FAN OF THE WEEK: Grateful Mike Rorabeck

Sunday, February 6, 2011

It may seem a bit presumptious to call an industry professional a fan.  But, we're proud to introduce Grateful Mike, a DJ from KING 101.9 FM in Cheyenne, WY, as not only a fan but a friend.

We've done close to 75 radio appearances, performances and interviews over the past two years, across the United States, Canada, and the Philippines.  We'd be hard-pressed to think of a cooler, more genuine, more dedicated, and more offbeat DJ than Grateful Mike.

Grateful Mike has had us on his afternoon show every time we've played in Cheyenne, and has spun our singles and plugged our concerts.  But what sets him apart is the fact that he, and his erstwhile cohort Hot Rodd Todd, have actually come out to three of our shows, including our infamous March 2010 show that nicely coincided with the worst snowmageddon Cheyenne had seen in years.  Anyone who would be willing to deal with gangrenous extremities on account of our music obviously has
impeccable class.

Also, legend has it that Grateful Mike lost a water gun shootout with a little kid at a Frontier Days event a couple years ago.  It takes a real man to admit this on-air.  Our drummer Kaycee, for instance, would never mention the fact that he lost an arm-wrestling match to a quadruple amputee on Cheyenne's biggest radio station.

Grateful Mike, we salute you.  You're hilarious, and more importantly, you're a genuine dude.  If you're in the Cheyenne area, do yourself a favor and set all of your radio presets to 101.9.  Or else.
